“The Intellectual Legacy of Christopher Freeman – Some Contemporary Challenges for Economics, Innovation Studies, and Public Policy” is the workshop held at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna on the 5th and the 6th of November 2016.
Christopher Freeman was one of the pioneers and gave a great impulse to the studies in science, innovation and economics. He founded the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) in the University of Sussex. In his researches Freeman gave a contribution to the evolutionary approach on economics. He kept his focus on the role of the technological progress as a factor of economic change. The link between science and technology, the relationship between technical progress and employment, and the impact of innovation on economics cycles were some of the main issues discussed during the two-day workshop. The keynote speakers were Giovanni Dosi, Francisco Louca, Alessandro Nuvolari, Luc Soete, Marco Vivarelli, Marco Lippi, Andrea Roventini, Luigi Marengo and Alessio Moneta.
