Pisa 15-16 June 2015
Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna – Aula Magna Storica
Which are the relationships between innovation, employment, growth in an increasingly globalized and financialised world economy? Can growth be combined with lower inequality and environmental sustainability? Which policies are needed to achieve Europe 2020 objectives of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth? Addressing these questions is at the core of the ISIgrowth project, funded by the Horizon programme of the EU Commission. The kick off meeting of the project was held in Pisa, at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna on June 15-16, 2015.
Giovanni Dosi, coordinator of the project, Professor of economics and Director of the Institute of Economics of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, explained the ambition of the project and the challenge of closely linking strong theory with policy oriented research. Specific sessions addressed the WorkPackages of the project, with detailed discussion on themes that included “The European scientific and technological knowledge bases, patterns of innovation and structural changes”; “Globalisation of production and finance and de-industrialisation from a comparative perspective”; “At the roots of inequality: innovation, human-capital dynamics and finance”; “Finance, uncertainty and innovation”; “The double role of innovation and technical change: demand/job- creation vs. job destruction”; “Schumpeter meeting Keynes”. A special effort is devoted to “Policies, social participation, democratic deliberation and dissemination of results”. The photo above shows the participants to the Pisa meeting.
